PRE-ARRIVAL INFORMATION for ALL ATTENDEES

 

IMPORTANT INFORMATION: This year Crypto will be held in the University Center Corwin Pavilion Monday – Tuesday Morning and then will move over to Campbell Hall for Tuesday Afternoon – Thursday.  Parking for attendees not staying in on-campus housing will remain in the Mesa 18 Parking Structure for all days.

This confirmation is for ALL conference attendees of CRYPTO. 

 

UC SANTA BARBARA IS NOW A SMOKE AND TOBACCO FREE CAMPUS.  NO SMOKING IS ALLOWED ON ANY CAMPUS PROPERTY, INCLUDING RESIDENCE HALLS AND ALL OUTSIDE AREAS.

 

Conference participants staying in On-Campus Housing receive a separate housing confirmation.

REGISTRATION HOURS

§   Sunday, August 17, 5:00–8:00pm

§   Registration Monday–Tuesday Morning ONLY, August 18-21, at 8:00am daily

Sunday Night, August 17, Opening Reception/Dinner: 5:30–9:30pm (Location: Anacapa Lawn)

 

NEW: General Sessions are held in the Corwin Pavilion in the University Center Monday – Tuesday morning and continue in Campbell Hall Tuesday Afternoon – Thursday. 

 

Dinner Reception and Rump Session, Tuesday evening, will be held on the University Center Lagoon Plaza and Corwin Pavilion.  Dinner Reception begins at 6:00pm with the Rump Session following at 7:30pm.

 

PARKING INFORMATION & DRIVING DIRECTIONS for OFF-CAMPUS participants

 

Parking information in this box is ONLY for participants staying in HOTELS or other OFF-CAMPUS accommodation. (Those staying on-campus should see the separate housing confirmation email.)

 

§   DRIVING DIRECTIONS & WHERE TO PARK: UCSB is easily accessible from highway US-101. Please see the map link at the top of this page. Note that if using driving directions/maps websites (such as Mapquest), there is no proper street address for UCSB; you can get basic directions by entering just the zip code of “93106”.

o    SUNDAY, AUGUST 17: Parking in Lot 3 on SUNDAY ONLY. You will need to buy a “pay and display” permit ($4 Sunday rate) from the machine in the parking lot.

§   From the South: Take US-101 northbound to the Airport/UCSB/Hwy 217 exit (appx. 8 mi. north of downtown Santa Barbara). This expressway will take you directly into campus. As you enter campus, stay in the left lane; enter the roundabout, then exit the roundabout onto Lagoon Road. Turn right at the first stop sign onto UCEN Road, follow the road to the end, and turn RIGHT into LOT 3 PARKING before you come to the stop sign.

§   From the North: Take US-101 to the Storke/Glen Annie Rd. exit. Turn right on Storke Road and proceed 2 miles to El Colegio Road. Turn left on El Colegio Road and proceed through the campus West Gate. Turn left at the second traffic light (Ocean Rd.) after entering campus and follow the signs to Anacapa or Santa Rosa Hall.  When you enter the Roundabout, please get into the RIGHT LANE and immediately get off on LAGOON ROAD.  Turn right at the first stop sign onto UCEN Road, follow the road to the end, and turn RIGHT into LOT 3 PARKING before you come to the stop sign. 

o    MONDAY–THURSDAY, AUGUST 18 – 21: Parking in MESA/18 PARKING STRUCTURE ONLY. You will need to buy a “pay and display” permit ($8 per day weekdays) from the machine in the parking structure.  Pre-programmed parking should be available for Crypto attendees so you can pay for more than one day at a time.  Note that after 5pm Monday – Wednesday, you may use the same permit for Lot 3 or 9 for evening events. 

§   From the South: Take US-101 northbound to the Airport/UCSB/Hwy 217 exit (appx. 8 mi. north of downtown Santa Barbara). This expressway will take you directly into campus. As you enter campus, stay in the right lane and proceed on Mesa Road. Turn left at the second traffic light into University Plaza, then make the first right and proceed into the MESA/18 PARKING STRUCTURE. CRYPTO sessions are held in the University Center Corwin Pavilion Monday – Tuesday Morning and then they move to Campbell Hall from Tuesday Afternoon – Thursday. 

§   From the North: Take US-101 to the Storke/Glen Annie Rd. exit. TRAVEL

§   By Air:  For your convenience, we recommend making flight reservations with Santa Barbara Municipal Airport (SBA) as your final destination. UCSB campus is a ten-minute drive from the airport.

§   Santa Barbara Airbus (bus shuttle from LAX):  This service provides several daily bus trips from Los Angeles International Airport to Santa Barbara.  Reservations are strongly recommended (see www.sbairbus.com).

§   By Train: Santa Barbara is served by Amtrak Train Service. Amtrak terminals are located in Santa Barbara (12–15 miles from campus) and Goleta (5 miles from campus).

 

 

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

§   UCSB Recreation Center: The "RecCen" is open 7 days per week (daily hours vary). The cost for a day pass is $12 for adults (child's rate also available), and a photo ID is required. Equipment includes racquetball and squash courts, weight training rooms, gym and 3 swimming pools.

§   Climate: Summer weather in Santa Barbara is usually quite pleasant; the days are warm (75ºF) and the nights are cool (55ºF) with occasional fog or overcast skies. We recommend a sweater or light coat for evenings. UCSB is a walking campus, so be sure to wear comfortable shoes.

§   Cancellations: Cancellation policies for the CRYPTO conference are set by the conference General Chair and can be found on the conference website or by emailing the General Chair. Note that separate On-Campus Housing cancellation fees of $50 apply for those who reserve on-campus accommodation, and are governed by UCSB Conference Services policies.

§   Currency (Foreign Currency Exchange): It is strongly recommended that participants from outside the U.S. exchange their currency into dollars at the airport of entry (nearest currency exchange is 15km from campus).

§   Disabilities: UCSB Campus Conference Services fully complies with the Americans with Disabilities Act.
